Starting a Business: Choosing Your Business Entity

Class overview: This class will cover the basics of business formation and the various entity options (partnership, corporation, LLC, etc.). Students will leave the class with an understanding of the different legal, income, and tax consequences of their business entity choice.

  2. Gain deep insights into the differences and consequences of choosing between a partnership, corporation, or LLC, and all their variations.

  3. Plenty of time to ask specific questions that may be helpful to you from the instructor, who has a decade of experience in business formation, finance, and strategy.

Agenda Highlights: We will first cover a very brief history of business formation before delving into all the various income, tax, and legal implications of whether you choose a partnership, corporate, LLC, or other structure. Expect a lot more!

Who is This Class For?

  1. Tailored mainly for entrepreneurs.

  2. Anyone aiming to start their own business or sole proprietors looking to officially form a separate legal business entity.

  3. Those curious about what business entity would best suit their needs from an income, tax, and time perspective.

Prerequisite: There are no prerequisites to this class. The expectation is that you have no knowledge or a beginner's level knowledge of business entities. The instructor has built in periods for students to ask any questions they like, relevant to the course or their own personal situations.

Resources: All students will have access to a simplified (no "builds") version of the course presentation after attending, which includes a summary table to easily check the various features and implications of each business entity.

Classes are taught at least monthly and for a limited time cost only $50 per session.
